Mark Leslie Hersey (b. Dec. 1, 1863, Stetson, Maine-d. Jan. 22, 1934, Tampa, Florida), Major General in the U.S. Army, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1887 and was Professor of Military Science and Tactics at the University of Maine for the next four years. He fought in Cuba during the Spanish-American War, served with the 9th Infantry in the Philippines, and in China during the Boxer Rebellion.
